The Priests We Need to Save the Church
In The Priests We Need to Save the Church, Kevin Wells lays out a blueprint of priestly heroism, calling for today’s shepherds to take the narrow path of self-denial once tread by St. John Vianney, the priest-saint of old, and his own uncle, beloved Monsignor Thomas Wells, who, before his shocking murder, led more than a dozen men to the priesthood and affected the lives of thousands.

Praise for The Priests We Need to Save the Church
"The story of the spiritual father Msgr. Thomas Wells, the author’s 'Uncle Tommy,' leaves us wishing we knew him before his murder in 2001. The descriptive power and eternal truths of this book make it a tribute, an indictment, and a prayer for the priesthood."
Patti ArmstrongAuthor and journalist, National Catholic Register
"This book is a salutary challenge to what can become an all-too-comfortable life. Kevin Wells, and the lives of the exemplary priests he describes, set out to identify and heal the ills of the modern priesthood and set us back on the path to sanctity. The Church will always be rocked with scandals until its priests become saints."
Stephen J. Rossetti, PhD, DMinResearch Associate Professor, Catholic University of America
"Kevin Wells' book is the long-overdue dynamite required to wake up a generation of hesitant priests and sleeping laity unwilling to embrace full Catholic identity in a post-Christian culture. "
Jeremy TateCEO, Classic Learning Test
"This is the book we need to sort through the moral chaos inflicting Catholicism in the modern world. Kevin Wells incisively identifies the problem in the Church and, through his careful thought, prayer, and research, clears the path for priests and laity to solve it. "
Matt WalshWriter, author, speaker of the religious right
"A timely, relevant, soul-searching read!"
Kathleen BeckmanAuthor of When Women Pray, Praying for Priests, and God’s Healing Mercy
"One of the most important books written in years involving the ugly dilemma that threatens to swallow the Catholic Church. It’s a must read for every Catholic wanting to understand both the source and depth of its tragic, self-inflicted wounds as well as the potential path toward forgiveness, healing and survival."
John HeubuschExecutive Director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and best-selling author the fictional thriller The Shroud Conspiracy

A Story of God's Grace When Life Falls Apart
When a thick vine of vessels in his brain burst one ordinary evening, Kevin Wells’ life took an abrupt, unanticipated turn. After having already navigated past a series of devastating events, the former sportswriter was now forced to push back death. And, miraculously, it was his beloved deceased uncle, Msgr. Tom Wells, who helped spearhead the comeback. In this riveting story, Wells details his reliance on steady humor, persistent faith and the prayers of thousands to win back life. The result is this spiritually-rich memoir, which offers hard-earned encouragement for those struggling through perilous times and looking for a reason to hang on. Readers will come to see what Wells eventually did: that Christ’s graces are always hidden in the pain.

“”I knew Kevin Wells when he was a sports writer, and even then I knew his words and his life would carry him far beyond playing fields and box scores. Burst is a story of near-death and all that life can be, of tragedy and triumph, of God’s love and the splendor of faith, of a shining light named Tommy, a savior named Krista and three gifts from heaven above named Gabrielle, Sean and Shannon. Someone once said, “Faith isn’t faith until it’s all you’re holding onto.” Kevin’s words and story take you in like that, in a warm spiritual embrace that never lets go.”
